Yesterday in Maputo the Cabinet approved an Atomic Energy Draft Law, establishing a framework for the safe and peaceful use of nuclear energy in Mozambique.
Speaking to the media at the end of the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers, cabinet spokesman Mouzinho Saide, quoted by Lusa, said that the new bill covers the use of nuclear technology in medicine, agriculture and industry.
“The bill establishes a legal regime for the safe and peaceful use of nuclear energy and its application, protecting individuals, property and the environment from potential accidents and the malicious use of radioactive material,” Saide said.
