Mozambique: Government to tighten property lease and sale regulations

Council of Ministers spokesman Mouzinho Saide has announced that the Cabinet yesterday approved a Legislative Authorisation Act to present to parliament on the Lease of Urban Buildings proposal aimed at enabling the government to play a more participatory role in monitoring developments in the situation.
Notícias reports that this proposal was prompted by the lack of regulations in a law recently passed that allowed for the sale of property to tenants. Among the matters seen as lacking sufficient regulation are the lease and sale of property to third parties for purposes other than those originally set.
