The Mozambican government will provide financial support to municipalities hit by floods in various parts of the country in recent weeks. To this end, the Council of Ministers on Tuesday (23-04) approved an instrument delegating powers to the Minister of Economy and Finance to define and transfer extraordinary amounts to the municipalities affected by the floods.
The decision was announced by government spokesperson Inocêncio Impissa at the end of the twelfth session of the Council of Ministers, who also said that the voter registration period in Quissanga district, Cabo Delgado province, would be extended.
The measure results from security conditions, in an area once plagued by terrorist attacks.
