The government of Mozambique has completed at least 23 indicators, out of a total of 96 planned for the first 100 days of government, after the plan was outlined by the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, who took office on January 15.
Data indicate that 73 indicators are currently being implemented, of which 61 recorded a level of achievement above 50%, eight are between 25 and 49%, and four below 24%.
This was revealed by the spokesperson for the Council of Ministers, Inocêncio Impissa, who was speaking at a press briefing held today in the city of Lichinga, Niassa province.
Yesterday, for the first time in the history of Mozambique, the Council of Ministers [Cabinet] held an ordinary session in Niassa province – the ninth cabinet meeting of this executive.
Speaking as the spokesperson for the Cabinet meeting, IInocencio mpissa, who is also the Minister of State Administration and Civil Service, said that in the last 67 days, in the health sector, the executive carried out 706 surgeries, out of the 500 planned. Of the surgeries performed, 212 were general; 49 were biological; 201 were orthopaedic; including 244 various surgeries.
The city of Nampula, a northern province with the same name, recorded 202 surgical operations, and Quelimane, in the central province of Zambézia, 110. The city of Beira, on the other hand, performed 108, and the city of Maputo had 210 surgeries.
“These indicators that we are referring to, in addition to having reached 100%, exceeded the target set,” Impissa said.
Also in the health sector, according to Impissa, in the 67 days since the government was in power, the Executive distributed 40,640 uniforms in all 10 provinces of the country, including the city of Maputo, as part of the improvement of working conditions and biosafety.
Within the framework of internet connectivity and universal access in the 67 days of the new government, 100 schools were connected to the Internet – 28 in the southern province of Gaza; 12 in the central province of Tete; 21 in the central province of Manica; 23 in the central province of Sofala; and 16 in the southern province of Inhambane.
During the same period, as part of the Emprega project, the government issued 1,502 driving licenses – 201 in Manica; 159 in the city of Pemba, in the northern province of Cabo Delgado; 324 in the southern province of Maputo; 314 in the city of Maputo; and 504 in Niassa.
The government carried out 1,841 household water connections, out of a planned total of 1,300.
“This is also over 100% of the target set for the 100-day plan,” said Impissa.
The plan for the first 100 days of government comes as part of the government created by the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, which took office after winning the 7th presidential elections held on 9 October, 2024. On the same day, the country held its 7th legislative elections and 4th provincial assembly elections.
