The government has submitted a proposal to parliament to revise the law governing the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC), in order to better align it with recent developments in criminal and procedural legislation.
These changes include modifications to the national directorates, including the national office of INTERPOL.
Council of Ministers spokesperson Filimão Suazi reported that a new organizational structure would be implemented in the direction of the institution to improve the response to kidnappings and other contemporary crimes.
“SERNIC will be reorganized into a general directorate, comprising the national inspectorate, national directorates, the national office of INTERPOL, specialized units, training establishments, autonomous central departments and the office of the director-general and general secretariat,” Suazi explained.
