The government has given assurances that market studies are being carried out to identify factors that could contribute to reducing the price of essential products in the country.
The guarantee was given this Tuesday in Maputo by the spokesperson for the Council of Ministers, Inocêncio Impissa, at the end of the fifth ordinary session of the Council of Ministers.
“Regarding the exercise of reducing the costs of essential products, His Excellency the President of the Republic, a few hours ago, referred to the need to carry out an analysis to see where the cost of living for the population can be effectively reduced, to allow the population to naturally have the capacity to provide for themselves with the basics, but there is work being done by the economic sectors to actually see where to reduce and where to remove, without necessarily putting producers, traders, production factors, among others, at risk. Because the finished product has its cost, it is necessary to understand where it is possible to reduce it, without necessarily harming those who also make the effort and sacrifice to make the products available,” Impissa said.
Impissa also noted that, for any measures to be implemented by the government to have
the desired effect, the collaboration of the public was absolutely vital.
