The Mozambican Cabinet today approved a revision to the Defence and National Security Policy, aiming to adapt the existing law to current national and international challenges.
A spokeswoman for Mozambique’s Council of Ministers, Ana Comoana, said today at a press conference that the document will still be submitted to the Assembly of the Republic for approval.
“The proposal to revise this law aims to adapt the National Defence and Security Policy to the Constitution of the Republic and to the current reality, in order to adjust it to the challenges posed by national and international current affairs,” said Ana Comoana.
The Mozambican Council of Ministers spokesman added that the changes to the National Defence and Security Policy are intended to strengthen the role of the Defence and Security Forces in defending sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity.
