Mozambique: Savings deposits hit record high in 2024, up 12.5% – central bank

The government on Tuesday approved a resolution dismissing Francisco Mazoio as chairman of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) and another one appointing Bernardo Abílio Cumaio to the post.
The decisions appear in the summary of the Council of Ministers meeting.
Cumaio served as president of the financial policy area at the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), the Mozambican Information Agency (AIM) details.
He was also chairman of the board of directors of an insurance company and, in the 1990s, held the position of director of the footwear and leather tanning unit at the Ministry of Industry and Energy.
Francisco Mazoio was acquitted in March by Maputo City Judicial Court of charges of abuse of power and embezzlement related to the alleged use of INSS funds for the acquisition of aircraft.
