The Employment Fair 2025 officially opened this morning at the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Center in Maputo.
The first segment of the event included a formal award ceremony, during which President Daniel Chapo awarded the German Development Cooperation for their contributions to youth employability and skills development in Mozambique. The award was received on behalf of the German Development Cooperation by Ms. Inga Tessendorf, Chargé d’Affaires at the German Embassy in Mozambique
With funding provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), GIZ is supporting 300 internships between 2024 and 2025. The program covers all provinces of Mozambique and prioritises placements in green and sustainable companies, helping young people gain practical experience in sectors that are aligned with the country’s environmental and economic development goals.
“For many young people in Mozambique, access to quality training and work experience is life-changing,” said Onorio Manuel, General Director of MozParks. “Internship programs like the one of GIZ and MozYouth are not symbolic. They directly improve employability, boost confidence, and open doors that would otherwise remain closed.”
As part of today’s program, 105 interns who completed six-month placements through the GIZ-funded initiative received graduation certificates acknowledging the successful completion of their internships.
The Employment Fair 2025 has brought together young job seekers, employers, institutions, and development partners. The event continues today until 18:00.
