Mozambican international Geny Catamo was the hero of the Portuguese Football League classic, scoring the only goal in Sporting’s victory over Benfica yesterday. Geny’s goal, scored in the 29th minute of the 16th round, marked the debut of coach Rui Borges.
With the triumph, the Mozambican athlete’s team regains the lead, now with 40 points, tied with FC Porto in second place. Benfica, on the other hand, occupies third place with 38 points.
It is worth noting that Geny Catamo had previously scored two goals against Benfica (2-1) on April 6, goals that were crucial for Sporting’s championship title win.
