The funeral of Mozambican doctor António Bugalho, who died on Thursday in Portugal, was held there on Saturday.
Bugalho, a doctor specialising in gynaecology and obstetrics, was one of the figures who fought hard for the decriminalisation of abortion.
He was a professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Eduardo Mondlane University, where he sat on the Scientific Council.
António Bugalho also directed the Maternity Unit at the Maputo Central Hospital, and was president of the College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Order of Doctors of Mozambique, among other positions.
