Mozambique: Prices accelerated in November

Maputo, Mozambique – MozParks and Fumilar, a leading Mozambican company specializing in malaria vector and pest control services, have officially signed a contract marking Fumilar’s entry into Kenmare – Topuito Industrial Park. The signing ceremony, held today in Beluluane Industrial Park during the visit of the Governor of Nampula, underscores MozParks’ commitment to expanding industrial development and job creation in the region.
Fumilar, established in 2006, operates across Mozambique with a strong presence in Maputo and Nampula. The company provides expert malaria vector and pest control solutions, adhering to international best practices, including WHO standards. Fumilar collaborates with Wits University and the National Institute of Communicable Diseases in Johannesburg to ensure scientific rigor in its operations.
With this new tenancy, Fumilar will enhance its service delivery in Nampula province while contributing to the local economy. The company currently employs a skilled workforce and will generate additional employment opportunities through its operations at Kenmare – Topuito Industrial Park.
“Fumilar’s presence at Kenmare – Topuito Industrial Park represents an important step in strengthening industrial infrastructure while promoting public health initiatives in the region,” said Onorio Manuel, General Director of MozParks. “This collaboration supports MozParks’ commitment to expanding our parks, advancing employment opportunities, and strengthening economic growth in the region.”
Governor Eduardo Abdula emphasized the significance of partnerships like this in driving sustainable economic growth. “The expansion of Kenmare – Topuito Industrial Park, with new investors such as Fumilar, showcases the potential of industrial parks in developing local economies and creating jobs,” he stated.
Gareth Clifton, Country Manager of Kenmare for Mozambique, welcomed Fumilar’s establishment in the park, stating: “Industrial parks thrive when businesses work together to create a dynamic and interconnected ecosystem. Fumilar’s presence strengthens the park’s supply chain while contributing to the overall development of the Topuito Industrial Park. The collaboration between companies within the park will enhance operational efficiency and unlock new opportunities for growth in the region.”
Pedro Paulino, representing the Conecta Negócios project, funded by the World Bank, highlighted the significance of this collaboration: “Conecta Negócios aims to strengthen SMEs. Supporting companies like Fumilar to integrate into industrial parks strengthens local economies, enhances supply chain resilience, and creates sustainable employment opportunities for Mozambicans.’
Kenmare – Topuito Industrial Park, spanning 215 hectares, is built around Kenmare Resources Moma Titanium Minerals Mne, one of the world’s largest mineral sands producers. The park currently supports 2,500 jobs and generates income for 25,000 Mozambicans. With ongoing expansion efforts, it aims to attract more tenants like Fumilar, reinforcing its role as a catalyst for economic development.
This partnership marks another milestone in MozParks’ mission to establish sustainable industrial zones across Mozambique, ensuring that each province benefits from increased investment and employment opportunities. The expansion of Kenmare – Topuito Industrial Park aligns with broader efforts to drive inclusive economic growth in Mozambique, supported by initiatives such as the World Bank’s investment in economic development and the Fundo Catalítico para Inovação e Demonstração (FCID). These programs aim to drive job creation, industrial expansion, and innovation, reinforcing the significance of Fumilar’s establishment in the park as part of a national vision for economic transformation.
