France’s Minister of State for Development, Francophonie and International Partnerships, Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, announced at a press conference at the end of the working visit to Cabo Delgado an additional €10 million in support for the provision of basic services in the province.
Zacharopoulou noted that France was the seventh largest contributor to humanitarian aid in Cabo Delgado, which it channels through various United Nations agencies and national and international associations.
“In our work as partners, we mobilise concrete solutions, such as the supply of drinking water, guaranteeing food, environmental sanitation and access to energy and education, because we believe that these are fundamental in initiating a development dynamic,” Zacharopoulou said.
In the city of Pemba, the minister visited various health units and the headquarters of the World Food Program.
Governor of Cabo Delgado Valige Tauabo told the visiting dignitary that her visit was of the greatest importance, as it brought concrete solutions for the development of the province.
Governor Tauabo praised France as one of the main contributors to child nutrition there.
