The Secretary General of Chama Cha MaPinduzi (CCM), the ruling party in Tanzania, has said that he will urge the Tanzanian government to continue its support in the fight against terrorism in Mozambique.
Speaking at a meeting with his Frelimo counterpart Roque Silva, who arrived in Dar-es-Salam this Tuesday for a five-day working visit, Daniel Chongolo said that, although the country was not facing terrorist attacks directly, the impact of this evil was nevertheless felt in Tanzania.
In turn, the Frelimo secretary general stated that terrorism could be seen in isolation, as it constituted a global threat, combatting which required the involvement and coordination of multiple states.
“At this moment, Mozambique is also facing a great threat, and the same threat is also felt in Tanzania,” the Frelimo SG said.
“But the terrorist threat must not be seen in isolation. It has to be seen in the context of a global threat that has to do with the effort of our usual enemies to remove the liberating parties from power,” Roque Silva added.
Roque Silva took the opportunity to extend condolences to the CCM party for the death, last March, of its leader and president of the United Republic of Tanzania, John Magufuli.
