The French government will disburse €3 million to support a project to empower girls in Mozambique, the French Embassy in Maputo said on Wednesday.
The project aims to create economic opportunities in disadvantaged urban areas, said a press release from the French Embassy in Maputo, distributed to the media.
The initiative, led by the Association for the Economic Empowerment of Girls – MUVA, will be conducted in the city of Pemba, Cabo Delgado province, northern Mozambique.
“The funding aims to improve gender equality, ensuring effective access for young people, particularly women,” the note added.
The ceremony to sign the memorandum for the funding is scheduled for Thursday in the Mozambican capital and will be attended by the ambassador of France, David Izzo, the Secretary of State for Youth and Employment, Osvaldo Petersburgo, and the Mayor of Maputo City, Eneas Comiche.
