Former Minister of Transport and Communications Paulo Zucula was today sentenced to 14 months in prison for the crime of making undue payments and must compensate the state in the amount of more than 1.89 million meticais.
Former director general of the IACM Lucrécia Ndeve was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment, converted into a fine, and must compensate the state in the amount of 36,000 meticais.
Reacting to the court’s ruling, Zucula said the sentence was not fair and that he had made the decision to increase the Civil Aviation Institute of Mozambique officials’ allowances to avoid a worse scenario. Zucula said he would talk to his lawyer about whether or not to appeal the decision.
