Mozambique: Chapo wants to transform the Constitutional Council into a Constitutional Court

Former minister of justice and member of parliament Ussumane Aly Dauto died in Maputo this Friday at the age of 74.
Ussumane Aly Dauto was minister of justice from 1984 to 1995 and a deputy in the Assembly of the Republic from the country’s first general elections until 2008, exercising the functions of president of the First Commission.
Aly Dauto was also a magistrate, and served as presiding judge of the People’s Court of Manica province from 1978 to 1983, and of the People’s Court of the City of Maputo from 1983 to 1984.
Ussumane Aly Dauto was born in Inharrime district, Inhambane province, on August 3, 1946.

Ussumane Aly Dauto é um amigo que perco. Mesmo na minha diáspora, mantivemos contato permanente e nas minhas visitas familiares, sempre conseguiamos algum tempo para colocar as conversas em dia. Aprendi muio sobre Moçambique conversando abertamente com ele. Poderia colocar as discordâncias ( e não eram poucas) e cada ficava feliz com as respostas.
