Food assistance will begin in the second half of this month for 500 families affected by drought in the districts of Massangena, Mapai, Chicualacuala and Xigubo, in the north of Gaza province.
The announcement was made this Saturday in the city of Xai-Xai by the representative for Early Actions on Drought at the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction (INGD) in Gaza.
Flávio Aires said that each family would receive a 3,500 meticais voucher to obtain food products for three months.
“We have the latest assistance which is part of the integrated emergency response project package that is being coordinated by INGD and two partners. The assistance is expected to reach a universe of five hundred families. The ideology of the assistance is to provide food vouchers worth 3,500 meticais per family, for a period of three months, and this will start, in principle, from the second half of this month [March],” he said.
Aires was speaking on Saturday as a member of the panel on Radio Mozambique’s ‘Linha Directa’ programme.
