The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, turned to his Facebook page to congratulate Lula da Silva, who was elected president of Brazil yesterday, after defeating Jair Bolsonaro in the second round of the Brazilian presidential elections, with 50.9% of the votes against his opponent’s 49.1%.
“Dear brother Lula! I want, through this platform, to congratulate you on the victory achieved in the second round of the presidential elections in Brazil,” Filipe Nyusi wrote in a note published on his official Facebook page.
“It was a victory conquered by perseverance, humility, faith in justice and, above all, it was a victory of the Brazilian people’s courage to face the future with themselves, towards a stronger and fairer country,” he highlighted.
“Mozambique has always shared with Brazil the most important moments in its history, and vice versa, as brothers who share a path whose destiny guides them towards well-being and justice,” he emphasised.
“Therefore, these congratulations of mine are also from the Mozambican people to the Brazilian people, in this new journey of hope opened up by their election towards a new era of cooperation and strengthening of our brotherhood. Congratulations, President Lula!”
