Mozambique: 15-day-old Neusa in night-time terror escape

The Defence and Security Forces contingent at the Mandimba border post [with Tanzania] in Nangade district, Cabo Delgado province, has been reinforced, after terrorists attacked a Border Guard Police team on January 22nd.
According to Carta de Moçambqiue sources, the attack resulted in the deaths of seven people, in addition to the looting of assets. Residents reportedly evacuated Mandimba village for fear of further insecurity.
Carta sources also indicate that, on the day of the attack, the FDS force numbered about 50.
On February 2nd, a terrorist group attacked the villages of Lijungo and Nkonga, located about 50 km from the headquarters village of Nangade district, where they killed residents and stole food products. Carta sources suggest that they were still in possession of the villages last weekend.
