The Secretary of State for Cabo Delgado, Armindo Ngunga, says that Mozambique’s Defence and Security Forces (FDS) operating in Cabo Delgado are the target of “defamation”.
Ngunga took this position at the opening of a seminar entitled “Platform for Dialogue: Business, Security and Human Rights in Cabo Delgado” promoted by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) in Pemba this week.
According to Ngunga, some organisations are spreading sometimes contradictory and baseless information about the work of the Defence and Security Forces in the northern operational theatre.
“For us it is contradictory and meaningless to give a voice, to purvey information about the violation of human rights, attributing to the defenders of the country criminal acts perpetrated by the terrorists, and purposefully ignoring the background, the repeated criminal conduct and the criminal record that militate against the real aggressors,” Ngunga said.
“Condemn the extensive #violation of #HumanRights is to condemn terrorist actions and ensure that our defenseless #populations who are victims of terrible acts see #justice applied in the context of crimes against humanity”, Armindo Ngunga, Secretary of State in #CaboDelgado. pic.twitter.com/qc8byS23sj
