Mozambican fashion took centre stage at the 7th edition of the Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival in Eswatini, with the powerful presentation of the Xigubo collection, designed by King Levy.
More than just clothing, Xigubo is a cry of African identity, pride and resistance.
Representing Mozambique among 12 designers from countries such as Eswatini, Lesotho, and South Africa, King Levy took to the runway with a visual narrative that pays homage to the “everyday warriors” – men and women who, with courage and resilience, face daily battles to support their families and communities.
In a conversation with Radio Mozambique, King Levy described the Luju Festival as a strategic platform for expanding Mozambican fashion regionally and internationally, highlighting its potential to create partnerships and open new markets.
After recently being introduced in Brazil, “Xigubo” continues to gain ground as a symbol of new African fashion design with Mozambican DNA. The Xigubo collection was developed in collaboration with the Leão de Judá brand.
