Mozambique provides over 200,000 new connections to the electricity grid in three months

ExxonMobil’s President for Upstream, Dan Ammann, led a company delegation received today by President of the Republic Daniel Chapo, and reaffirmed its commitment to Mozambique and the liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Cabo Delgado.
According to a Presidency of the Republic statement sent to ‘O País’ Dan Ammann during the meeting highlighted the collaboration between the Mozambican government and international partners to advance the liquefied natural gas project in Cabo Delgado, “It was a pleasure to meet His Excellency President Chapo. We discussed our commitment to Mozambique, to the LNG project,” which “we are all working on, and also to the communities in Cabo Delgado,” Ammann said.
The LNG project in Cabo Delgado represents a significant milestone for the exploration of natural resources in Mozambique. Led by ExxonMobil and other partners, the initiative is at different stages of development, with substantial investments earmarked for infrastructure and gas extraction. This is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, including the generation of direct and indirect jobs for the Mozambican population.
In addition to economic advances, the LNG project promises to boost infrastructure development in Cabo Delgado, investing in roads, schools and health services.
“We also discussed how the government. ExxonMobil and our partners can work together to help move this project forward, to the benefit of all involved,” Ammann added.
Sustainability and social responsibility were at the centre of the discussions. ExxonMobil reinforced the importance of incorporating sustainable environmental practices to minimize negative impacts.
Additionally, the company is committed to supporting community initiatives, ensuring that project benefits are shared fairly and that local voices are considered in decision-making.
With the partnership between the Mozambican government and ExxonMobil, several training initiatives and investments in social projects are being implemented. Programs to train qualified workers in the gas industry and investments in education and health are some of the commitments made.
The objective is to ensure that economic growth driven by natural gas brings significant
improvements in the quality of life of the population of Cabo Delgado, the statement from
the Presidency of the Republic comments.
