Exxon Mobil continues to carefully assess the timing for the final investment decision for the Rovuma Basin Area project in Cabo Delgado.
This idea was conveyed by Walter Kansteiner, Exxon Mobil’s executive, when speaking to journalists in Washington, shortly after meeting with President Filipe Nyusi.
The source did not provide details, but admitted that he and Filipe Nyusi discussed issues related to climate change, which are also a concern for the American company.
President Nyusi was in Washington to participate in the International Conference on the Miombo Forest.
This forest covers nearly 2.7 million square kilometers in Southern and Central Africa, supporting over three hundred million people in the SADC countries.
The Miombo forest is therefore a primary source of income for millions of families.
