Mozambique: Extradition requests, arrest warrants for “debt mentors” & citizen Boustani – Noticias

Jornal Notícias reports today on its printed edition that “the Supreme Court has agreed to the request of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) for the extradition of former bankers Andrew James Pearse, Detelina Subveva and Surjam Singh, considered mentors of the undeclared debts, in order to respond to criminal proceedings in Mozambique”.
The PGR’s request [ for the extradition of the former bankers ] was sent to the Unite States judicial authorities on June 3 of this year and appears in the context of the instruction of case 536/11/P 2019.
The Supreme Court ruling, dated October 16, decides in favour of the extradition request, the formal and material presuppositions prescribed by law being found to have been met.

Data in possession of ‘Noticias’ also indicate that the PGR issued international arrest warrants for the above mentioned defendants and for the citizen Jean Boustani, via Interpol.
The PGR has also requested the legal and judicial cooperation of the United Kingdom, where the three defendants [Pearse, Subveva and Singh] reside.
Pedido mandado de captura contra mentores das dívidas
O Tribunal Supremo anuiu ao pedido da Procuradoria-geral da República (PGR) para a extradição dos ex-banqueiros Andrew James Pearse, Detelina Subveva e Surjam Singh, considerados mentores das dívidas não declaradas, a fim de responderem, em Moçambique, pelos procedimentos criminais.
O pedido da PGR foi mandado às autoridades judicias dos Estados Unidos da América em 3 de Junho deste ano e surge no âmbito da instrução do processo n 536/11/P/ 2019 , que corre os seus termos nesta instituição.
Através do Acordão datado de 16 de Outubro o Tribunal Supremo julgou procedente pedido de extradição por se mostrarem reunidos os pressupostos formais e materiais prescritos na lei.
Dados em poder do Noticias indicam ainda que a PGR emitiu mandatos de captura internacional dos arguidos supracitados e ainda do cidadão Jean Boustani, via Interpol.
Paralelamente, a PGR solicitou ainda apoio em matéria de cooperação jurídica e judiciária, à autoridade Central do Reino Unido, local de residência dos três arguidos.
