At the meeting between Mozambican and Kenyan businesspeople, the presidents of the two countries said they were available to help create business-friendly agreements, and challenged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunity presented.
President Nyusi is accompanied on his visit to Kenya by 18 entrepreneurs from various Mozambican business sectors. In the meeting he held with his Kenyan counterpart, President Nyusi said that the two states were open to improving their joint political and legislative framework in order to facilitate business.
His counterpart, Uhuro Kenyatta, said that, despite still being only minimal, business between the two countries was growing.
“These businesses are still very few. In 2017, Mozambican imports to Kenya reached approximately US$31 million, and exports from Kenya to Mozambique about US$12 million. We have to continue working together – there are many opportunities to explore,” he said.
CTA Chairman Agostinho Vuma spoke about the availability of financing for investments in Mozambique, with agriculture, mineral resources, tourism, and port services among the areas the two countries are promoting.
