Mozambique places close to 150,000 tons of cashew nuts on the international market every year.
According to the director-general of the Mozambique Almond Institute, Ilídio Bande, the figure is below expectations considering the country’s potential, as the Mozambican cashew nut is of high quality and has a guaranteed market.
Speaking in Beira during a consultation meeting on the proposal to revise the cashew law, Ilídio Bande indicated the central region of the country as having the greatest potential in the production of cashews.
The consultation meeting was attended by the directors of the District Services for Economic Activities, customs officials and other interested parties.
