The Mandlaakzi district in Gaza may not reach the 3,000-ton cashew nut production target it set for the 2023-2024 marketing year.
This is due to low production caused by heavy rainfall, which impacted cashew trees during the maturation phase.
Speaking to Radio Mozambique, the Director of the District Service of Economic Activities in Mandlakazi, Ercília Cau, said that, so far, the district has sold only 300 tons of the crop.
According to Cau, the situation is contributing to the low circulation of currency in the district economy.
In its last growing season, Mandlakazi sold just over 2,000 tons of cashew nuts.
