The National Road Administration (ANE) says that the main factor contributing to the premature degradation of the country’s road network infrastructure is excess loads on goods transport vehicles.
This finding was presented this morning at the 59th Maputo International Fair (FACIM 2024) by ANE engineer Daniel Machai, at a seminar on the country’s roads.
To mitigate the problem, ANE intends to continue installing weighbridges on national roads, a measure that must be accompanied by the approval of legal instruments that penalize cases of excess load.
The importance of load control in preserving road assets and challenges and prospects for financing the road sector in Mozambique are the subject of the seminar this Tuesday (27-08).
This is an event organized by the National Road Administration (ANE), the Road Fund and the Mozambique Road Network (REVIMO).
The seminar will also discuss the impact of REVIMO’s five years in office, the concessionaire’s business portfolio and investment opportunities.
According to a statement seen by ‘Notícias’, the debate aims to provide a “deeper understanding of the state of the country’s roads, highlighting the causes of their rapid degradation, strategies for seeking funds for improvements and expansion of the road network, and the results of the road concession strategy adopted by the Government”.
