Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane this Friday chaired the fourth session of the committee coordinating the removal of Mozambique from the International Financial Action Task Force (FATF) ‘grey list’.
According to a note issued by the prime minister’s office, the meeting demonstrated the country’s commitment to this at the highest level, and counted on the presence of the Supreme Court, the Attorney General of the Republic, the ministers of Economy and Finance, Interior, Justice, Land and Environment, as well as the deputy ministers of Energy and Mineral Resources and Foreign Affairs.
“The meeting aimed to share the results of the evaluation of the second progress report approved at the plenary of FATF’s International Co-operation Review Group on October 24 in Paris, France,” the document explains.
According to the presentation, the FATF appreciated Mozambique’s commitment and efforts in concluding the Action Plan, and encouraged the Mozambican executive to continue conducting reviews under the ICRG monitoring.
Meanwhile, Mozambique still has two reports scheduled to be presented to the FATF, one next December and then in April, 2024.
