Military personnel from the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) visited the Role 1 Medical Facility at the Katembe Training Camp.
Implemented in the past, by Luxemburg, in a Quick Impact Project (QIP) context, the Role 1 Medical Facility at the Katembe Training Camp is being prepared now to play a crucial role as a first-aid station for the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM).
Beginning next week, the Role 1 Medical Facility at the Katembe Training Camp will be the place to conduct medical examinations to the Quick Reaction Forces (QRF) members that are returning from field, contributing to the first phase as part of the regeneration programme.
In this facility will be operating five medics, five psychologists, three dentists, three nurses and six rescuers. All of them will be responsible for the first medical evaluation of the QRF members, playing a key role in the evaluation of the personnel after their action.
EUMAM MOZ members, including the Role 1 Chief and Joint Medical of the European mission, Captain David Veríssimo, were welcomed by the Major Chaimite Mutadiua and Second Lieutenant Agostinho Maunze, Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM) medical military personnel responsible for the Role 1 Medical Facility, having the opportunity to experience in first-hand how the processes of receiving the military from the QRF will happen.
EUMAM MOZ is a non-executive mission with a mandate until June 2026. It supports the FADM with the objective of strengthening the sustainability of Mozambique´s QRF, embedding them within a robust and autonomous operational cycle.
