Another important programme, promoted by the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ), has come to an end today. The Communication and Public Information Programme, delivered across five sessions at the Headquarters of the Mozambican Armed Defence Forces (FADM), aimed to strengthen and update institutional communication skills among Mozambican military personnel.
Throughout the programme, participants explored key topics such as strategic communication, analysing the current communication landscape, the importance of being proactive, the role of public information, the use of emerging social media platforms, the designation of media points of contact, and the handling of crisis communication. The programme concluded with practical exercises and training, simulating real and challenging scenarios.
By the end of the programme, attendees acquired the skills to prepare essential reference materials, including agenda notes and press releases. Procedures for conducting press conferences — particularly in crisis situations or other significant events — were also addressed.
This programme also served as a valuable opportunity for the exchange of experiences and best practices between EUMAM MOZ personnel and the FADM communication teams, fostering a culture of mutual learning. The shared commitment to transparency, effectiveness, and camaraderie helped to strengthen ties between the teams and raise the standard of strategic communication in a military context.
This collaboration stands as a clear example of how international cooperation can contribute to the development of local capacities, promoting peace and security in the region. The combined efforts of both sides reflect a mutual commitment to operational excellence and the development of human resources that ensure continued progress in defence and security.
