The National Hydrocarbons company (ENH) must make investments aimed at replicating the successful distribution of piped natural gas in the north of the province of Inhambane and in other regions of the country, Notícias reports.
This was the challenge recently launched by the Chair of the Board of Directors of ENH, Ludovina Bernardo, during a working visit to the company’s offices in Vilankulo.
Bernardo also defends the importance of developing an operation and maintenance, health, safety and quality team to meet the needs of the natural gas distribution network.
According to Bernardo, ENH faces several challenges, from the need to respond to requests for piped gas and the company’s physical presence in the regions where oil and natural gas projects are being developed, to the consolidation and deepening of the independent operation and maintenance of piped gas distribution networks.
“We are pleased and impressed with the way natural gas is contributing to improving the lives of our communities, particularly in helping girls stay in school and reducing deforestation,” said Bernardo, who also visited the Bimbi complex and the ENH yard where the first small-scale natural gas production unit associated with the Pande 7 well is on display.
The ENH chairperson learned about the activities carried out, particularly the scope of the distribution of piped domestic gas in the districts of Vilankulo, Inhassoro and Govuro, and visited some consumers.
The consumers visited are part of the 900 covered by the sixth and seventh phases of the expansion of piped domestic gas, now in its final phase. They expressed satisfaction at the option to use this clean and cheap source of energy instead of charcoal and firewood.
ENH’s actions in Vilankulo help improve the lives of communities in Inhambane province, with piped natural gas from the Pande and Temane projects offering access to clean energy and consequently reducing deforestation for the production of firewood and charcoal.
A source close to the process assured that, by the end of the year, upwards of 300 more families in Inhambane province would benefit from piped domestic gas.
