The National Road No. 1 (EN1) is cut in the area of the Anchilo Control Post. The cut is due to the volume of rainwater, which accompanies the severe tropical storm JUDE. The work on the EN1 will begin this Tuesday, but there is still no deadline for completion.
The Director of Public Works in Nampula, Faquira Massalo, describes the cut on the EN1, in Nampula, as being of great magnitude, but, due to the importance of the highway, the works to restore traffic should begin this Tuesday, however, there is no date for completion.
The cut is approximately 15 meters long, with a depth of 5 to 7 meters, which led the National Roads Administration (ANE) to go to the site, with the engineers of the contractor, who is in charge of the emergency works, to better study the terrain. Basically, washers will be placed in order to allow the flow of water.
At this time, several places in Nampula province are impassable: there is a cut from Nametil to Angoche; from Nampula to Liúpio; and also from the Naguema to Chocas-mar intersection and several other sections.
Regarding the human impact of the cyclone, the INGD delegate in Nampula, Anacleta Botão, told our reporter that she did not yet have concrete data, due to the limitations of the teams, to carry out the survey on the ground, since it was only on Tuesday morning that the weather began to improve in many places.
However, Botão assured that the emergency kits had already been positioned in the places previously described as possible impact sites.
