A community leader in Moamba district, Maputo province, has been attacked and killed by a herd of elephants.
The victim was attacked as he was trying to chase away a herd of elephants which have been devastating agricultural crops in Nonguene village.
Moamba district is located in the northern part of Maputo province. To the north, the Massintonta river separates it from the district of Magude. To the south, it borders the district of Namaacha and to the east the districts of Manhiça and Marracuene, while its western edge forms the border with the South African province of Mpumalanga.
