Herds of elephants have killed one person and destroyed a number of homes in Gondola, Chibabava district, Sofala province.
The head of the Goonda administrative post, Rufino Vicente, said that the pachyderms also devastated several agricultural areas.
The situation leaves 800 families in food insecurity.
Vicente asserts that the government is providing multifaceted assistance to families impacted by human-animal conflict.
