South32 pulls Mozambique smelter forecast amid civil unrest

The Mozambican government and partners have invested US$3.15 million in the electrification of Mitande administrative post in Mandimba, Niassa province.
The 33kV subsection of the national grid, which took three months to install, will supply electricity to 3,000 families.
So far, at least 1,423 families are already benefiting from the new power supply, which is galvanizing development in the region.
The new infrastructure was inaugurated by President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, during his two-day visit to Niassa.
The head of the administrative post of Mitande, in Mandimba, Carlos Ussene, said that the electrification of the region would prompt significant advances in the social and economic areas
On Thursday (20-01), the first day of his visit, President Nyusi visited Metangula, a district in Lago, where he visited the naval base and various socio-economic enterprises.
