Mozambique elections: Renamo and MDM boycott Inhambane results – Deutsche Welle

11:49 – The release of preliminary election results by District Election Commissions in Inhambane province is under way this Friday (18.10) despite 28 members of the Mozambican National Resistance (RENAMO) and 14 members of the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM) refusing to sign the tabulations and result sheets (editais), DW Africa reports.

Renamo deputy Domingos Gundana says that all party members have been instructed not to witness the election results, which he considers fraudulent. “The instruction comes from the superiors in the party, who define the destinies and future of Renamo. We cannot accept this gross fraud carried out by the regime just to stay in power,” he told DW Africa’s correspondent Luciano da Conceição.

“Everyone saw what happened at polling tables and polling stations, where party agents, observers, journalists and civil society were prevented from working,” Gundana said.

No entanto, 28 vogais da Resistência Nacional Moçambicana (RENAMO) e 14 do Movimento Democrático de Moçambique (MDM) recusam-se a assinar as atas de apuramento e os editais finais com os resultados das eleições de 15 de outubro.

Domingos Gundana, deputado da RENAMO, refere que todos os membros desta formação política receberam orientações para não testemunharem os resultados das eleições que considera fraudulentas. “A orientação vem dos superiores do partido, aqueles que definem os destinos e o futuro da RENAMO. Não podemos aceitar esta fraude grosseira protagonizada pelo regime só para se manter no poder”, asseverou ao correspondente da DW África naquela província, Luciano da Conceição.

Segundo Domingos Gundana, “toda a gente viu o que aconteceu nas assembleias e mesas de voto, onde foram impedidos de trabalhar os mandatários dos partidos, observadores, jornalistas e a sociedade civil”.
