Quelimane, the capital of Zambézia, was empty this Monday morning. Podemos members and supporters of Venâncio Mondlane were prevented from marching in the city by the Police of the Republic of Mozambique.
Due to the general strike announced by the Podemos party and its presidential candidate, some services were closed in the city, and many people stayed at home.
In the Sinacura neighbourhood, where the Podemos delegation is located, young people and members of the party had signs ready to march, but a strong police contingent prevented the march from proceeding.
A group tried to negotiate with the police before abandoning the attempt and going home.
