According to a statement released yesterday afternoon (Thursday, 31 October), a total of 17 New Democracy candidacy delegates were arrested at polling stations on 15 October, on the grounds that they had falsified their credentials.
New Democracy says that the credentials were issued by the appropriate bodies in response to requests made by the party itself, further claiming that the arrests were made only to frustrate attempts to uncover electoral fraud by the ruling party.
The video below shows family members of those arrested calling for their release in Changana, the local language in Gaza.
