Carlos Langa, former councillor for education in Nampula municipal council during the mandate of the late Mahamudo Amurane (murdered on October 4, 2017), died on Saturday 7 December at the Nampula Central Hospital as a result of post-surgery complications.
A career teacher, Langa was shot by the police in one of the cafes in the city of Nampula at the start of the “4×4” demonstration, when supporters of Venâncio Mondlane, who claims victory in the October 9 elections, tried to take over the official residence of the governor of Nampula.
Carlos Langa was a chemistry teacher at the 12 de Outubro secondary school.
A source at the hospital told Ikweli that. “after he was taken to hospital, teacher Langa underwent successful surgery, although it was risky, because the bullet was lodged in a sensitive area, in the abdomen”.
“However, the surgery was performed on an open stomach, which caused him to have unreleased gas. In an attempt to correct this, he lost his life,” the source explained.
Teacher Carlos Langa was shot at the Café Atlântico, where he regularly went to have his coffee and start his day.
