Supporting members of the District Election Commissions (CDE) and the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) are demand payment of supervision allowances and the thirteenth-month salary for the year 2023.
Those involved are the vice-presidents of the CDEs, members, directors, technicians and assistants of STAE on a national scale.
Speaking at a press conference in Maputo yesterday, the group’s spokesperson Stélio Indaxata said that the electoral bodies still owed them their 13th-month salary.
“Now, we have been without supervision allowance for three months,” he said.
Indaxata maintains that the non-payment of subsidies and the 13th salary bonus is not due to a lack of funds, as it was budgeted for from the start of the electoral process.
“Now, why is there a problem with payment if there was a budget for the work to begin?” the group asks. According to them, the electoral bodies should be able to pay the amount owed into their individual bank accounts.
