Mozambique: President Nyusi visits Rwanda Security Forces in Ancuabe district
The National Elections Commission (CNE) has visited the warehouses of the Artes Gráficas and Lexton consortium providing equipment for the 2024 electoral process, which begins with voter registration from scratch in districts without local authorities and in the diaspora and updating in districts with local authorities, a note from CNE/STAE reads.
On site, several teams are working on assembling PVC voter card printers, installing software on mobile registration computers and testing their functionality and compatibility prior to distribution across the country.
This year, there are in total around 4,130 mobile IDs [registration computers] and respective PVC printers [voter card printers], 12,500 PVC cards [voter cards], ink cartridges, folders, power banks, solar panels among other accessories to be distributed to ensure that voter registration runs smoothly.
These materials will join those provided for the 2023 municipal electoral process and other equipment from previous electoral processes that has been upgraded.
Equipment distribution
The distribution of equipment for the start of voter registration is going smoothly. According to the consortium, eight trucks have travelled to Niassa, Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Zambézia delivering equipment.
The consortium says that, once the equipment is assembled, tested and collated, it is immediately packaged and made ready for transport.
Equipment delivery has already covered 90% of the provinces in the north of the country.
