Mozambique’s National Elections Commission (CNE) will announce the results of the local elections held on October 11 at 3:00 p.m. today (25-10). The results will be delivered by the president of the CNE, Dom Carlos Matsinhe.
The announcement will take place at the Joaquim Chissano Conference Centre in Maputo, according to a press release provided by the CNE on Wednesday.
The announcement of the results comes at a time when the Constitutional Council has already commented on alleged irregularities recorded in some municipalities in Gaza and Maputo.
After the announcement of the definitive results, the CNE has five days to submit all documents relating to the electoral process to the Constitutional Council for validation and approval.
The intermediate count carried out by the District Election Commissions indicates that Frelimo won in 64 municipalities and the MDM in one – Beira.
In total, 6,785 polling stations were set up in 65 municipalities across the country, as part of the sixth round of local elections.
On October 17th, a CNE spokesperson said that the electoral campaign and the voting on October 11th took place in a peaceful and orderly manner.
