Mozambique Elections: Maputo largely at a standstill - AIM

According to the results announced on Saturday from the Maputo city municipal districts of Nhlamankulo, and Kamaxaqune, Daniel Chapo, the presidential candidate of the ruling Frelimo Party, won last Wednesday’s presidential election, with the independent candidate, Venâncio Mondlane, in second place.
The results announced by the District Elections Commissions were as follows:
Presidential Candidates (in the order they appeared on the ballot paper)
Lutero Simango (MDM): 328 (0.84 per cent of valid votes)
Daniel Chapo (Frelimo): 19,928 (51.03 per cent)
Venâncio Mondlane (independent): 9,900 (25.35 per cent)
Ossufo Momade (Renamo): 8,893 (22.77 per cent)
Lutero Simango (MDM): 1,001 (1.47 per cent)
Daniel Chapo (Frelimo): 34,720 (51.03 per cent)
Venâncio Mondlane (Independent): 29,899 (44.6 per cent)
Ossufo Momade (Renamo): 2,418 (3.55 per cent)
In the parliamentary election, Frelimo topped the ballot in both districts, with Renamo and Podemos fighting for second place.

Renamo 9,272 (25.1 per cent)
Podemos 8,308 (22.49 per cent)
Nova Democracia 8 (0.025 per cent)
MDM 6,676 (9.16 per cent)
Frelimo 44,491 (61.2 per cent)
Renamo 9,477 (13 per cent)
Podemos 8,484 (11.64 per cent)
Nova Democracia 567 (0.78 per cent)
These results are still preliminary, and have yet to be confirmed by the National Elections Commission and, eventually, by the Constitutional Council.
