11:23 The Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM) has said in Beira it does not recognise the election results and called on electoral administration bodies to overturn the process and present the true results.
MDM Secretary General Jose Domingos said today Friday at a press conference that “as voters and citizens of this land, we declare that there has been fraud and many irregularities.”
Domingos speaks of “organised stuffing” of the ballot boxes with the connivance of the presidents of polling stations, observation members and police authorities, DW Africa correspondent in Beira Arcénio Sebastião reports.
The MDM feels the elections “were not fair, free and transparent”, Domingos adding that “these were the most violent and painful elections the country has ever organised” and criticising international observers who say the process was “orderly and peaceful”.
