Frelimo member and former national liberation struggle fighter Eduardo da Silva Nihia admits that the party is in crisis, with no meetings having been held by its various bodies. Nihia supports the idea that there should be a national Frelimo meeting, and also claims that some people have indeed joined the party through non-predefined routes.
Interviewed this Wednesday morning at the Assembly of the Republic, Eduardo Nihia argued that the reason why senior Frelimo members write and publish letters is because of the lack of party meetings.

According to Nihia, it has always been a habit in the Frelimo party to debate ideas which were later taken to the Central Committee. “There are no [meetings] today… I can’t explain why.” “I think that’s why people talk in other forums,” he added.
For Nihia, the crisis in the Frelimo party is therefore due to the lack of meetings which were previously commonplace. For the same reason, Nihia argues that there should be a national meeting of staff and members of the Association of Combatants of the National Liberation Struggle (ACLLN) , so that people can express their point of view.
To the question, are there infiltrators in Frelimo?, Eduardo Nihia responded: “The question is that there are people who entered [Frelimo] not by their own means”.
