Mozambique Dugongo Cimentos may start quarrying limestone in Mossuril district, Nampula province, as raw material for cement production in a new plant currently under construction in Nacala-Porto.
The potential development was shared by director of the District Service of Economic Activities of Mossuril, Casimiro Ussene, who comments that the region that stretches from Naguema to Matibane is rich in mineral and forestry resources.
Lime is currently produced by hand in the region, and Dugongo Moçambique is currently carrying out an environmental impact assessment as well as holding community consultations.
Mossuril has a large forest reserve, with several protected native species. Various other valuable minerals also occur there.
