Mozambique: UEM only graduates a third of students admitted each year
File pohto: Sala da Paz
Almost two months after the disappearance of Palma Community Radio journalist Ibraimo Mbaruco on the night of April 7 in northern Cabo Delgado, his whereabouts remain unknown, with neither his family nor society in general knowing whether he is even still alive.
‘Carta de Moçambique’ sources say that, since April 7, the only major action taken by the authorities in Palma, and in particular by SERNIC, the National Criminal Investigation Service, is to take statements from family members and the journalist’s friends and colleagues.
One of those interviewed is the radio station coordinator, who is, however, prohibited from discussing the matter with anyone other than the authorities, including family and friends. It is not known whether such a degree of secrecy is designed to prevent the possible leakage of information about the journalist’s disappearance, or to preserve the ‘clues’ found so far.
