The deputies of the Assembly of the Republic this Thursday elected the five individuals to join the team of Judge Counsellors of the Constitutional Council. They are Domingos Cintura, Mateus Saize and Albano Macie, who are renewing their mandates, and the newcomer António Boene, all four proposed by the Frelimo bench. Albino Nhacassa, proposed by Renamo, was also re-elected.
Article 241 of the Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique lays down that the Constitutional Council is composed of seven judge counsellors, one of them, the Judge President of the Constitutional Council, being appointed by the President of the Republic, and a further five elected by the Assembly of the Republic, according to the criterion of proportional (political party) representation. The final judge counsellor is appointed by the High Council of the Judiciary.
